Our Clients approached studioAH Architects to add a separate dining area to their detached home. The Client was after a modern design to their traditional detached home. So we came up with the idea of a glass link connecting the existing kitchen to the new dinner. Bi-fold doors will give views off the patio area and tall picture windows will give views of the garden. A large flat roof velux will give lovely views of the sky as well as allow the interior to be flooded with natural daylight throughout the entire year.

studioAH Architects has recently completed a single storey rear extension and interior modifications in New Milton. The existing bungalow comprised of a small kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a lounge. The bathroom had a shower and sink, the toilet was in a separate part of the bungalow. A reconfiguration and single storey extension led to a family bathroom, a master bedroom with en-suite and walk-in-wardrobe, 2 x double bedrooms, a large lounge and open plan kitchen/diner with large sliding doors leading to the garden. The project went from feasibility to full planning approval, building regulations approval and site activity to completion. A 2.5m x 1.5m roof lantern lets in plenty of natural light into the new kitchen/diner and makes it a lovely space to be in and entertain friends and family. Exposed brick walls, printed floor tiles and a kitchen island really gives this extension a very clean, modern and a extremely homely look and feel.

The brief by the client was simply 'a larger living space'. Speaking to the client and questioning them on how they used their home, studioAH Architects were able to really understand the reasons behind the need for the works to their home. The existing house was of a two storey detached dwelling with approximately 1/2 acre of land. The proportions were wrong, a 3 bedroom house had a very small long narrow kitchen and a extremely small shower room. Discussions with the client led to the design of a two storey extension which would be home to a new open plan kitchen/diner and a separate utility room. Upstairs, a new master bedroom with ensuite and walk-in-wardrobe was the ultimate dream for the client - a place where they could have their own individual and private space. This application is currently being reviewed for planning approval.

studioAH Architects are in the process of helping a family in Birmingham with reconfiguring and extending their existing 4 bedroom home. The addition of a very large extension for the new kitchen, diner and lounge gave the family a much needed space to enjoy as a family unit as well as with their friends. The loft was converted from an unused space to having 2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom The two young boys had a single wish - a games room! studioAH Architects fulfilled their wish and we were left with two very happy young boys. The Clients required a lot of support in maximising their houses true potential and various sketch ideas allowed the ideas to be explored. Numerous conversations allowed the Clients to truly explore what they could achieve and now they are left with a house that they can really enjoy. Next step is to apply for planning permission which I hope to submit by the end of May as we finalise the smaller details which will make this project and home even more exciting.

studioAH Architects has just submitted a planning application for 2 x 3bed apartments in Bournemouth. This was a very challenging site - being a backland development surrounded by two storey detached and semi-detached residential dwellings. We worked very closely with the Client in establishing their requirements for the site. Each apartment has 3 bedrooms - 1 x master ensuite and 2 single bedrooms, open plan kitchen/lounge/dining, family bathroom, storage car parking and amenity space. We have worked very closely with bournemouth, Christchurch and poole Council in developing a proposal that meets the needs of the borough as well as engaging the Case Officer. We hope to have a decision by July 2020.
